To My Mother on her Seventieth Birthday
Name of Maker: Dogquilter
To My Mother on her Seventieth Birthday - I made this pictorial quilt for my Mother's 70th birthday. I had help with donated pictures from her siblings. She was delighted with the quilt and shocked with photos she had never seen. I selected a wisteria fabric as the focus fabric because the family home in the middle of the quilt was adorned with wisteria over the porch.

Twisted Orange Peel
Name of Maker: Robin Petty
Twisted Orange Peel - This quilt started out with a challenge from my stitch group - The Twisted Stitchers - we all bought 4 half metres of the same fabric and were to piece a quilt with curves or the illusion of curves. I added 40 or so other fabrics. The quilt took over 200 hours to complete and it is one of my favourites.
Jacqueline's Epiphany
Name of Maker: Robin Petty
Jacqueline's Epiphany - I had planned on using purple and orange batiks only and a friend at the class suggested I add Teal to the mix - it was so easy and fast... Taught at a guild workshop based on a pattern in a book called Easy Pieces (which is no longer available).
Kimono
Name of Maker: Robin Petty
Kimono - I saw this quilt in a magazine and thought the piecing method was cumbersome so I adapted the Stack the Deck method of piecing crazy quilt blocks. I had a lot of fun collecting the asian fabrics for this one!
No Diamonds in the Sky
Name of Maker: Robin Petty
No Diamonds in the Sky - The inspiration for the colours in this quilt came from the batik used in the border. It was amazingly simple to piece once all the awesome batiks were chosen.
Stenciled Sampler
Name of Maker: Renee' Stockwell
Stenciled Sampler - The stencils in the book were not cut out. I hand-cut the stencils myself with an exacto knife, then used solid stencil paint with a dry-brush method to paint the quilt blocks. This was very time-consuming, but I enjoyed the results immensely.
Grandma's Follie or
Name of Maker: Thelma Butler
Grandma's Follie or "NObody Sneeze" - Grandma cut these tiny pieces with scissors and hand pieced and appliquéd the blocks. My uncle (who is a hay fever sufferer) was instructed "DON'T SNEEZE!" when she had the block pieces laid out. He is a wonderful son and took her EVERYWHERE (by his on words) to find the fabrics - there weren't as many quilt shops as there are today.
Garden of Flowers
Name of Maker: Bettie Draper
Garden of Flowers - My husband's grandmother presented this to us for our wedding in 1981. The fabrics are from his mother's and aunt's dresses made by their mother Bettie Draper in the 30s & 40s.

Peacock in My Garden - The peacock in this quilt was machine embroidered by me on my Bernina 200E sewing machine. I machine quilted the quilt using the same home sewing/embroidery machine.
