Nicholas' Birth Quilt
Name of Maker: Phyllis Bannister
Nicholas' Birth Quilt - This crib sized quilt shows the children of the whole world as they form the hope for all of us. Nicholas' parents are both adopted. His father (our son) was born in India and spent the first 6 years of his life there. His mother was born in South Korea and was adopted by a family in New York when she was 14 months old. The blending of families, cultures, and traditions makes all of us stronger. I interpreted this pattern to feature Korean and Indian traditional costumes. The backing was of monkeys, which ran free in the streets of Bangalore, India, where our son was born.
