Northern Star
Name of Maker: Nina Wetter
Northern Star - Made this quilt for our new home in Virginia. It is the largest quilt I ever made and ever will make. My friend Chris quilted it for me on her long arm in Pa. right before we moved.
Elegance and Old Lace
Name of Maker: Penny Hollar
Elegance and Old Lace - I used reverse applique on each embroidered block to make the embroidery look as though it is not set in blocks. Each block has stacked decorative stitches to make it look like there is lace around each embroidery design. The embroidery was done using Marcia Pollard's Grand Elegance designs and her thread color set from Robison Anton. To continue the soft, feminine look of the quilt, I scalloped the edges. My quilter did a mock trapunto as the quilting.
Spring Fields
Name of Maker: kdub7
Spring Fields - This was my design for the 2007 Hoffman Challenge. This is my first quilt to be entered in a show or competition. I never realized the stresses and last-minute panic of making a quilt that is due on a certain date. :) I was pleasantly surprised to find that my quilt won Best Youth Mixed Technique award in the Hoffman Challenge. It's an honor!

Knysna Bos
Name of Maker: Marié du Toit
Knysna Bos - This quilt was made in green blue and yellow. The light yellow look like the sun shining through the woods. I named the quilt Knysna bos and quilted some of the mysterious Elephants in the light areas.
Jungle Safari
Name of Maker: Marié du Toit
Jungle Safari - This Quilt was made for the National Competition in 1994. I had a lot of difficulty cambining the blocks and nearly threw the pieces away. The quilt grew to its enormous size.
Traditional Curves
Name of Maker: Marié du Toit
Traditional Curves - I made this quilt for a "curve" cahllenge. I used the Drunkards Path blocks to provide a frame around appliqued baskets of flowers. I want the blocks to melt together in one quilt.
