The Cat and the Fiddle
Name of Maker: Mary Lou Walls
The Cat and the Fiddle - I took some of the patterns for the applique blocks from the book and adapted them for this quilt. I used my embroidery software to stitch out the words to coordinate with the pictures in the appliques. I have misplaced the book and will continue to look for it so that others will have the information. I know I purchased it in Paducah, KY at the quilt show there and I believe it was published by AQS.

I added a simple border in light yellow and had it quilted by the retired nuns that live at the Villa St. Joseph. This quilt is used on a guest bed and is in excellent condition.
My Crazy Log Cabin
Name of Maker: Kathy Powell
My Crazy Log Cabin - I made a paper art piece using patterned and painted paper before I sewed this quilt. I gave it an 80's update and used a magenta center square for the center of the blocks where it is traditionally bright red. It was fun building a stash of floral calicos while I worked on this quilt. This was the first quilt I made. It was well used and loved and is now retired from daily use.
Peacock's Pride
Name of Maker: Kathy Powell
Peacock's Pride - This quilt was designed in a college course at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. The class was taught by Joyce Patton Kavanaugh. She guided us through many quilting techniques that were both traditional and innovative for the late 80's. I enjoyed the chance to learn about batik and loved her methods for doing a quilt as you go technique on the machine. Making this quilt made me want to do more!!!
