Asilomar stars
Name of Maker: Jan Sweetland
Asilomar stars - The Stars were taught at Empty Spools class at Asilomar by Alex Anderson. I then took the stars home, made more and created what I thought, a pleasing lay out. THANK YOU, Alex! This has been one of my favorites displayed in my home.
Polka Dot Stars
Name of Maker: Lauren Meadows
Polka Dot Stars - I love to hand piece, especially stars. These are 6 inch hand pieced stars. I had a floral fabric picked out for the border and it just didn't look right. I ended up with the large pink polka dot and setting squares and the border (the floral ended up as the backing). The quilt is machine quilted with spirals in the setting blocks.

Name of Maker: John Putnam
Touched by Ricky (Tims that is) - Ricky came to our guild, Capitol City Quilt Guild, Lansing, MI in September of 2004. I took the convergence class as well as the Kool Kaleidescope class. In the convergence class, Ricky toured the room reviewing fabric choices and when he came to my stack, selected the piece of Electric Rainbow fabric and began to tell me how wonderful it would look if I did ....... obviously he could see a finished quilt. i don't have that visualization talent. He was absolutely correct. It turned out to be wonderful and I do love it.
Calendar Blocks for Mom
Name of Maker: Lauren Meadows
Calendar Blocks for Mom - This is the first month and the base of a calendar I am making for my mother. I called it the gift that keeps on giving because she receives a new calendar block each month. It's not only fun for her to receive, but it's fun for me to do since its a small 10 1/2" block that I can usually complete in an afternoon. I don't usually use bright colors but it was fun to use these them. I saved the fabrics and try to use the some in each month's block. I try to use the black & white check in each and every one.

She is an excellent teacher. The quilt was gifted to my sister-in-law as a "Wear-Me-Out Quilt" She had been diagnosed with a serious medical problem. The quilt must have worked, as she has made significant improvement.

Grandma's Baskets
Name of Maker: overjoy25 and Joan
Grandma's Baskets - This is the second TAB quilt . We changed the suggested indigo blue and white fabric to 30's fabrics. Joan has been quilting longer and had some older 30's fabrics, so the scrappy effect with old and new is great.

Around the block with Sunbonnet Sue
Name of Maker: Sue Parker
Around the block with Sunbonnet Sue - I used Christmas collection of fabrics with addition fabrics to make a 12 block lap size quilt. On the focus blocks I machine embroidered Sunbonnet Sue redwork from designsbyjuju.com with a matching burgandy thread. I quilted it using meandering with gold emboidery thread which brought out the gold in the quilt. It really turned out pretty. I did not prewash the fabrics except for the embroidered focus blocks. I washed the quilt after quilting it which gave it an antique look. I gave it to my mom for both her 71st birthday. I think she likes it pretty good. She is an avid quilter also, as was her mom. Both of my sisters are also quilters. And by the way so was my dad's mother, Grandma Lucy. I guess you could say it's a family tradition. Oh yeah, my daughter has made a quilt too.
