Koo Koo Puff
Name of Maker: Kathy Rentz
Koo Koo Puff - This is another fun wall hanging from McKenna Ryan's new Sea Breeze patterns. I can't wait to start on the third.
Carnival
Name of Maker: Kathy Rentz
Carnival - I lived on the Virgin Islands for awhile and enjoyed Carnival each year. The dancing is lead by the Macko Jumbies and I wanted to remember the good fun feelings of Carnival with my own Macko Jumbie. The quilt was started in 1999 when I learned curved piecing but I put off drawing the Macko Jumbie for a few years.
A Few Nuts/My Family Tree
Name of Maker: Sandra Weimar
A Few Nuts/My Family Tree - The quilt was made for our 50th Family Reunion, thus the golden leaves on the big tree. Each of the 32 grandchildren signed a leaf.
Needleworks Universe
Name of Maker: M. Girard
Needleworks Universe - We are fans of an old Brit SF TV show, Space:1999. When we began writing fan fiction based on the hobby of one of the characters we called it the Needleworks Universe. The fanfiction is posted on our website and each story is illustrated with quilt blocks. Meredith chose a number of the blocks and made them into a tiny cross-stitch using hand-dyed threads. One block is the logo for the production company of the show. The cross stitch is on 28 ct cloth, one over one. The stories can be read at http://www.space1999.net/fanfiction/mdg/index.html
Life's Simple Pleasures
Name of Maker: Sandra Weimar
Life's Simple Pleasures - Made for my niece, she loves simple little bugs.
Little Houses
Name of Maker: Ellen Lindow
Little Houses - When I saw the Simply Quilts episode on liberated quilts by Gwen Marston, I knew that was for me. I took scraps from my scrap stash and began making little house blocks as a small lap quilt for my daughter. She chose purple hottie flames for the backing and binding and I appliqued hottie hearts between the blocks. Scraps were from skirts and dresses I made for her when she was little, including her first Easter dress and Christmas dress as well as some of my own dresses. Other fabrics include horse and John Deere fabrics for she's a country girl and Green Bay Packers fabric since she and her Daddy are cheeseheads.
Going Around in Circles
Name of Maker: Linda Kittmer
Going Around in Circles - This quilt was inspired by a quilt challenge called "Exploring New Territory" put out by the Brampton Quilters Guild. I decided to play with circles and curved edges. I had no vision as I began--I just started to play and I really didn't know what the end result was going to be. After several months of working on it sporatically, it was finally done. "Bead me, bead me, bead me..." I heard one night while I was working on something else in my studio. I listened and many hours later the piece was finally done as you see it (but that's not to say that it couldn't change in the future!)
Hollow Cubes
Name of Maker: Linda Kittmer
Hollow Cubes - I have a fascination with 3 dimensional looking quilts, and this one was great fun to make! I free motion quilted a different animal in each of the hollow cube blocks. I used Laura Lee Fritz's book as inspiration and without marking, I just had fun 'drawing' with thread.
Nature's Awakening
Name of Maker: Arlene Ritz
Nature's Awakening - First convergence quilt with origame flowers and butterflies, trapunto butterflies in background and antique buttons.
Stack of Blocks
Name of Maker: Linda Kittmer
Stack of Blocks - I love the look of 3-D quilts so I wanted to make a tumbling block quilt. I had also been collecting all kinds of novetly fabrics for an I Spy quilt so I dedcided to combine the two projects. Traditional tumbling block quilts use diamonds, but I wanted the feature fabrics to be square. I played around with designs until I came up with a way of getting the 3-D look for tumbling blocks while keeping the front face of the block square.
Op-Art #1
Name of Maker: Arlene Ritz
Op-Art #1 - I made this after watching one of Alex Anderson's shows on Simply Quilts--I can't remember the guest's name.
Wholecloth Bluebirds
Name of Maker: Arlene Ritz
Wholecloth Bluebirds - I loved the greeting card and thought it would make a good quilt. The bluebirds and flowers are handpainted. I used trapunto in the hand quilting. The back also has a flower painted on to cover a spot of blood. It won a first place ribbon in the Fine Arts category at a local county fair.

intuition
Name of Maker: houstonjudy
intuition - Variation on Grandmother's Garden. Hexagons in the rings of 6 are fussy cut to be identical, or in somecases, very closely related. The black and white portions are quilted in white thread and the colored portions in thread that matches as close as possible. The pink corners poking out at the bottom are actually from the quilt below it...oops
