Clown Fish
Name of Maker: JoAnn
Clown Fish - This quilt was a result of a quilt class I took with a friend a the LQS. It was fun to play around with this. As you can see I did not do the trditional white srtipes that clown fish really have. The tail and dorsal fin are trapontoed and the side fin 3d stuffed. I free motion quilted seaweed and scales with metalic thread. This was the first and only quilt that has the Ricky Tims binding method. I love the look but I think it takes practice to do it well.
Judy & Jordan's Quilt
Name of Maker: ViVi Mathis
Judy & Jordan's Quilt - JWS is my grand-son that loves music. The inspiration for this quilt was easy because of the music sheet--gift from my husband sister's that is Dr. in Music. Judy has passed since, she never saw this quilt. This quilt was hand pieced and hand quilted summer 1999. (Quilt Size: 38" x 50")

Name of Maker: BethMI
?? - I made this quilt for my son's BFF ("best friend forever")'s high school graduation. On to college. What a great kid! These are all batiks in blue, gray and slight green. On the back, I used Ami Simm's Twisted Sisters on a background of blue green batik -- more woodsy theme -- with conversational prints making the blades of the block. I chose fabrics with meaning to the boys -- school buses, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, bikes, travels they took together, etc., and included photos at the bottom.

Name of Maker: Judy Breese
Grandmother - I donated this piece to Ami Simms' Art for Alzheimers auction in 2006. It was selected to be sold during the Houston Quilt festival and raised $45 for research. I checked the booth every day but never saw it; it must have sold early. I'd love to know who owns it but will probably never know.
Stars in a North Wind
Name of Maker: Linda Kittmer
Stars in a North Wind - This quilt was made using Sharyn Craig's method of doing Northwind blocks (If you ever have the opportunity to take on of her classes I highly recommend it--she's a great teacher!). As I worked on the quilt I was reminded of a story my husband tells of his uncle Andy. He is quoted as saying. "A north wind is always cold, no matter what direction it comes from."
