Inspired by lantern-style interlocking tiles, Alien Eyes II was machine appliqued from colorful scraps and machine quilted. Alien Eyes II took first place in the Modern Quilt category at the 2019 Tucson Quilters Guild annual show Quilt Fiesta!
The fun wall hanging makes me smile.
Althought there is snow outside my window and we are currently 'sheltering in place', it reminds me that summer is coming and there will be time to enjoy cherished friends.
I made this "Divide and Conquer" Convergence quilt after watching Ricky's mini lesson during the Quilters Quarantine. Fortunately, I had a yard of Ricky's hand dyed fabric in my stash. What a perfect time to use it. It was great fun to make, and I thank both Alx and Rick for all that are doing for their TQS fans during troubling times.
Sorry, Alex.
A small table topper made for my daughter while I was quarantined during the corona virus scare. I won the star in bingo at a quilt retreat, and knew I had more Stonehenge fabrics.
This is the forth vase quilt. All fabrics are hand painted. Each flower is from a photo in my garden. I used 40wt. rayon threads to quilt each petal.
Hand appliqué quilt. Pattern by Pearl Pereira, 3P Designs.
Inspired by Caswell Carpet in the National Museum of Art in New York. Pattern by Corliss Searcey.
This quilt was given as a surprise to our African Missionaries. Every member of the church signed the quilt for them. On the label it has the maker and date, the town it was made in and the town it was going to and the owners, also the name of the church.
This is my version of Violet Craft's "Elephant Abstraction" . I had lots of fun piecing and quilting this one. Metallic thread helps give Stella some "jewelry" on her trunk and ears.
She's now hanging in our family room.
This is my interpretation of the social isolation during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This is the quilt I made using Alex Anderson's paper piecing book. This labor of love took me 10 months to make on my Viking sewing machine. And 5 minutes to learn the lesson of a lifetime. I now am a firm believer in prewashing as you can see it bleed when I washed it.
This is a mini swap quilt I made based on a demo done by Alex in an old show yonks ago. She used beautiful pastel hand dyes in her version. I used some Caryl Fallert fabrics I have been hoarding and hand dyed some silks for the matchsticks and some of the blocks. It was enormous fun to make and now resides with my swap partner.
Lovely, easy FPP pattern by Jacqueline de Jonge. It was a real pleasure to piece and went together beautifully. I'm not a great piecer, so it must be a great pattern. I used a variety of batiks from my stash. Batting was Hobbs Tuscany Wool and quilted using Isacord 40 thread.
Made for my niece's first grandchild. The mom, my great-niece, loves everything Afrocentric. So, I made this quilt using scraps of African fabrics that I purchased from a quilt show vendor on my first visit to Paducah many years ago. I had been waiting for the perfect project and this was it.
This quilt is a three panel wall hanging, each panel is 15 x 23. The idea cam from wanting to use up some of my selvages coupled with the need for something to hang in our newly painted livingroom. It is made from cotton, silk, and selvages. The size was determined by the amount of fabric I had on hand. I used EQ to draw out the four blocks I was going to use and then colored them to look like a stream. It was an easy and fun quilt to do and came out exactly the way I wanted.
This Is all hand painted fabrics, I used embroidery threads to doodle quilt designs all over the top.
All hand painted fabrics. I used embroidery threads for the all over quilting designs.
