Nos Aieuls (Our ancestors)
Name of Maker: Paul Leger
Nos Aieuls (Our ancestors) - Earlier in 2006 I made 2 crossword quilts, one for my Mother Doris Léger (née Bourque) and one for my brother in law Gilles Babin. A few weeks after my mother was given the quilt my uncle Laurie was shown the quilt. He asked my mother if he could show the quilt during the Congress mondial 2006 Bourque family reunion, when my mother mentioned this to me I got the idea to do a 3rd quilt as a memory of the families who founded l’Acadie. As I started doing research it became apparent that this project would be of mammoth proportion in doing and in a completed quilt as there are over 800 familes who founded l’acadie. Through la Société des acadiens et des acadiennes de Nouveau Brunswick I was able to obtain a list of all the family names who had deported. This quilt is not about the deportation but of some of the families who had a hand in making l’Acadie what it is today. This quilt is in part the genealogy of the Acadians, it show how we are all intertwined making us one strong family.

A Little New Lebanon Fun
Name of Maker: Paul Leger
A Little New Lebanon Fun - While at the retreat I need discarded fabrics to use as my leaders and enders. Seeing that Ron and discarded small pieces of Fabric I decided that those would do the job. Once I had taken the fabric I noticed that the discarded pieces were of a size big enough that I could do a miniature quilt. Once the top was finished I did give it to Ron as a gift but then took it back as I felt I should finish the quilt. The mini quilt was given back to Ron on September 27, 2012.

A Beach Runs Through It
Name of Maker: Denise Rutter-Lang
A Beach Runs Through It - For our 2013 Quilt Show, the Washington Stars Quilt Guild did a challenge called, "A River Runs Through It." The challenge required the quilts to be 21" square, with some form of "river" in the bottom third of the quilt. I included the beach and plumeria in the design because they hold special places in my heart. I hand painted the entire quilt top, as a single piece, then layered and quilted it.
