Desmond learning to fly - My Granddaughter had a story she loved me to read to her. Desmond was a poorly young dragon. He had bumps on his back that hurt and his Mummy called the doctor. Next morning he was feeling better but he had these funny things on his back - his Mummy laughed and said they were wings and sent him into the garden to learn how to fly, the butterflies said they would show him how.
The quilt group I belong to gave us a challenge to use a given piece of fabric in a quilt no bigger that 24" Square so my desmond was born - the challenge fabric is in the celtic border, it's the one with flowers. The background was painted and the flowers and butterflies are Broiderie Perse. The sun is aceltic knot embroidered over the painted sun.
this quilt won a Merit for original design at the quilt show put on by my group later that year.
