Horse of a Different Color - This is an art quilt that I designed. The background is woven using a technique I learned from the book "Simply Stunning Woven Quilts" The Horse was inspired by a stencil that I saw online. I immediately thought -great quilt idea! I drew my version of the horse and transferred the pattern onto the fusible I had ironed on the back of the fabric. This is a method I learned from Laura Wasilowski.

Quilt of Valor - After seeing the documentary "Quilts of Valor" with Marianne Fons on PBS, I decided that I wanted to make a patriotic quilt and give it to a soldier who had served overseas. I was fortunate to know someone in my area who was very deserving. James served several tours in Afghanistan. I loved sewing this, and I wanted at least one soldier to know that I was grateful for his service to our country.

"Down at the Depot" is the 4th in the series that honors the historical and important places in the Village and Township of Dryden, MI. It features a large, center medallion with my thread painted interpretation of a pencil drawing by R. Mason (permission was granted for the interpretation). It also features 20 machine embroidered vintage train engines and cars. "Down at the Depot" approx. 90" square Original Design by Lisa Burmann Pieced by Mary Batzer and Lisa Burmann Machine Appliques purchased from: Joanne Daugherty, JED Creations Quilting and Thread Painting by Lisa Burmann, www.burmannstudios.com Binding to be applied by Mary Batzer Raffle tickets will be available soon for $1 each and the drawing will be at the Cookie Sale fundraiser in December, 2013.

Almost Autumn Falls - I took a landscape workshop from Linda Schmidt. She taught us to make trees and boulders from white puffy paint and Tyvek (wrap for constructing houses or used mailing envelopes!). Pretty amazing results.
