Glacier Star - I have paper pieced for a long time, but had never taken a Judy Niemeyer class. I enjoyed the class and also liked the pallet that I choose which was different from the bright colors that I usually use.

Young Soldier - Upon hearing of the death of a young Canadian Trooper killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in 2007, I was torn with grief at the notion that my cousin, his best friend who had survived the explosion, would have to deal with that vision and such a profound loss for the rest of his life. This art quilt is made to honour Canadian families suffering the loss of a loved one and the Canadian soldiers still suffering from post traumatic stress.

Hobo Quilt - Original design called for darker civil war type colors. I loved the design and wanted something bright. The blocks and design were from a piece of ombre fabric that I had had for some time.

Mateo - This is a portrait of my grandson, Mateo, taken at age 5. He was indulging his Nana by wearing one of my Red Hats and standing so I would have lights and darks. I did use lots of red and purple feathers. This was a class with Esterita Austin

Magic Zebras - This was made for the 2006 Hoffman Challenge and did travel the US for a year. The leaves and the stripes on the zebras are the challenge fabric. I did a lot of shading with paints and dyes.
