AUTUMN SPLENDOUR - Played with the blocks till I found the pleasing setting for the quilt. Fabric for this quilt has been sitting in my stash for a while. I quilted this quilt on my Bernina 830 using the BSR. I never quilted a quilt by machine before and the free motion was a enjoyable experience for me. Bird About Town: A Pelican Odyessy
Name of Maker: Cheryl Moncrief
Bird About Town: A Pelican Odyessy - Photos of Petros, town mascot of Mykonos, Greece were captured in my photo. I played with the original photo in Photoshop Elements to create the bird in various venues around town. I also colorized the photos and printed them to fabric. I used batiks to set each one in a "twist 'n turn" setting. The border fabric is also a striped batik.
Texas Bluebonnets
Name of Maker: Cheryl Moncrief
Texas Bluebonnets - While undergoing chemotherapy, I still managed to get to Quilt Festival in Houston and take a class with Melinda Bula. I got started in class, then when I felt better after treatment, I completed this quilt in January 2012. I did something a little different - I pieced the background. It really gave it light and movement. I quilted it heavily on my Bernina.
Thinking of Nick
Name of Maker: Cheryl Moncrief
Thinking of Nick - This is a 5-inch paper-pieced lob cabin block, a scrappy quilt. It is called "Thinking of Nick" because I used the Autism fund-raising fabric (the one that is jig saw puzzle pieces) in the first inside border. It is also on the back of the quilt. I quilted it using stippling in various sizes, as it resembles puzzle pieces. My grandson Nick is a victim of Autism. I continued the scrappy theme in the piano key border.
Sweet Dreams of Roses
Name of Maker: Cheri Foster
Sweet Dreams of Roses - This quilt was made for my granddaughter Brianna's 12th birthday. The inspiration fabric came from my Aunt Maryann's stash that I inherited. I picked the large rose pattern for the border and the peach background because peach is my granddaugher's favorite color.

My Sisters are Stars - This is the second quilt I made from the Sisterhood of the Traveling Triangles - the batik exchange. The four HSTs that comprise the pinwheel in the center of each block were from the exchange - the HSTs that build the star are mine. The Sisterhood was the best quilting experience I've ever had.
