UFO - The original Lily block was made in a class with Ruth McDowell in 2000 and it sat as an orphan block until this year when I was determined to include it in a quilt. I made two more blocks, but I cheated, sorry Ruth, and appliqued them. Then it was time to figure out a composition.
Fabric frenzy - After watching show 913 I was keen to use some scraps and made my version of fabric frenzy. I used a rather thick woollen blanket as wadding and found I was unable to hand quilt my preffered method so have done a very bad job of machine quilting. I did not want a UFO so persevered. I call it my practice piece at machine quilting!!!
KENNETH'S GARDEN - This is for my new grandson's nursery wall. His layette and baby quilt are of fabrics printed with critters that would live near a pond. This scene gives a big picture of a perfect habitat.
Isaiah 41:10 - Honors a friend who lost her 12 year battle with cancer. This was her favorite verse, the stone wall represents God, our strength. An organization,"River of Hope," installed a landscape for her also.
Katherine's Quilt of many colors - I made this quilt for a beloved friend. She tells me that God has given me a gift and in my mind gifts are meant to be given away so this was my gift to her. I also gave her a letter with the quilt with a picture of each block and a Bible verse to go along with it.
Heartquilt - I have been making hearts through many years for this quilt. Some from quilting classes, some are from patterns (just different sices) and some made from me. Made just many blocks and tryed to fit them together.
Have used differen teknices on most of the blocks.
Have machine quilted and decorated with lots of heart buttons.
Just love HEARTS :-)
On The Way To Sun ~ Snow Geese Meet Rainbow - Gail Garber taught a class at MQXWest in Oct 2011 and taught the Goose Is Loose. In the class I designed my quilt and then pieced that design using the techniques I learned in class. I had a blast with the triangles and the circle I decided to do for the sun. A little challenging which pushed me into getting it done.
Oh My! Bright Limey & Stars - I love mysteries and when I found I had in my stash all the fabric this quilt called for, I had to get started. It took me many years to have it quilted. I love what Carolyn did with the purple and lime thread. Someday I will give it away.
Scrappy Hexagons - This is a pattern I saw in a magazine and liked it so much I had to try it myself. It uses two different sized hexagon shapes, one slightly larger than the other. It is a 'quilt as you go' design, and very easy to do. It was designed by Elsie Morrison.
