Tulips in Sandy's Garden
Name of Maker: Mary M Moody-Cox
Tulips in Sandy's Garden - This quilt was inspired by the tulips in Sandy's yard that were blooming. I selected different tulip photographs and printed them in black and white. Then I outlined the various pieces and parts to create the tulips. I then dug through my "stash"and started creating.

Crazy Postcard
Name of Maker: Kari Grece
Crazy Postcard - I wanted to try a crazy quilt and decided a postcard was the perfect size. I was inspired by Brian Haggard and used Judith Baker Montano's Embroidery & Crazy Quilt Stitch Tool as inspiration & instruction for my stitches.
Sputnik Stars
Name of Maker: Joanne Adams Roth
Sputnik Stars - I wanted to design a unique set of star applique blocks that looked kind of outer space-like.
4Rabbits
Name of Maker: Candy Prudhomme
4Rabbits - Wool applique, fused and machine appliqued and quilted. This is the final project for Calico Cut-Ups Quilt Guild BOM (A is for Applique), for which I was chairman. A practice project presented applique techniques on a fat quarter background, starting with a vase and stems (see Vase w/Flowers). Each month I featured a new flower with different techniques, starting with raw edge applique and ending with hand techniques, including needle-turn applique. The table mat is featured in months January (templates), July (Part I) and September (Part II) and includes quilting ideas. The last month (October) shows different embellishment techniques (see Fight at 1:00). Lessons for this BOM will be on our website through December 31, 2011 (www.calicocutups.org).
Mirrored Zentangle
Name of Maker: Bonnie Keller
Mirrored Zentangle - I've been doing Zentangles on paper with a Pigma pen. Loved this one and decided to mirror it around and create a little quilt. So much fun!
Colorful Block of the Month
Name of Maker: atkinssm
Colorful Block of the Month - Although the top was completed in 2005, this colorful wall quilt was not quilted and bound until 2011 when my guild had a challenge to finish our UFOs. I am so glad I waited until now to have it quilted. The center block was to be an appliqued flower design, but I changed it to a Mariner's Compass.
Christina's quilt
Name of Maker: Laura Moore
Christina's quilt - This lap quilt was made for a handicapped girl that befriended my father while he was installing and elevator in her house. The whole family has adopted him...so to speak. Her birthday is in October and he wanted a special gift for her.
Kleurvol te lewe
Name of Maker: Marié Du Toit
Kleurvol te lewe - I have embroidered some blocks (digitised embroidery). I combined the embroidered block with star blocks.
Memories Stick
Name of Maker: Charlotte Noll
Memories Stick - Designed and created this quilt for the 2011 Houston IQA Pin Peddler's 25th Anniversary Every Pin Tells a Story Exhibit where it is hanging right NOW and being seen my MILLIONS of quilters - YIPPEE!!! I wanted to create a design suitable for my studio; a design that can be rearranged and appended to as I continue to collect. Each pin has it's own embellished 'pillow' and is connected to each other with safety pins. Straight pins border the mosaic Quilt Pins pinwheel banner from where they hang in organized columns. Each pin pillow has a printed fabric label attached to the back telling the story so it cannot be forgotten.
Sunlit Circles
Name of Maker: Ann L. Petersen
Sunlit Circles - Started as a smaller version of a quilt I donated to my local guild for a raffle quilt, it quickly became a much more complex setting. Quilted with many circular designs and completely pieced (no applique). Third place winner at Houston in 2011 and I'm thrilled! (photo by gregory case photography)
