Door #3 - Starting with the idea of using giraffes and some fabric brought home from Africa, I made this baby quilt for my older daughter and husband.

Etude du chat - This is an applique portrait of a cat looking down at his paw, based on an intriguing closeup photo done by his owner, who gave me permission to make this quilt. Strider is long-haired and had a fuzzy face with a cowlick along his nose. I found this project quite challenging to design and complete. I called it study of the cat (in French) in honor of my friend who loves cats and all things French.

Posie Fiesta - I altered a pattern from a book to make it really bright, because my friend loves black and bright.

65 and Holding - Blue florals with tan sashing started as a workshop, continued at a retreat and finished with a heavily stitched "65" in the corner. Then I realized that my sister was 69. Hence the name "65 and holding.

Velcro Close Tea Cozy

Lexies Quilt - Enjoyed using Bonnie Hunter's Sister's Choice block/workshop and modern fabrics to make this scrappy bright quilt. The woman I made this for is a dancer, aerialist, performer and I felt this was a wonderful happy mix that represents her personality so well.

Dr. Milan and Mrs. Mary Brandon - This is a portrait quilt, made with guidance from Marilyn Belford, Realistic Fabric Portraits and Quilt University. The dress is stitched with Sulky rayon and then Superior Metalic threads.

Living Adventurously - Free motion machine quilted with text (approx. 4500 words) taken from my son Nick's emails to family and friends when he had a "gap year", going around the world before starting university in 2004. The centre circle shows the Pacific Ocean and the places that he visited in Asia, Australia, New Zealand and America as he travelled around the world.

houses and heartstrings - I started this after a class with Paula Doyle of Green Mountain Quilts in Staines Surrey England. I took a long while to make this as other projects became more important - ie new grand children arriving in the family, older grand children going into 'big boys beds' - you know the scenario! But I eventually finished it and showed it to Paula.

Black & White + One - My guild had a challenge using black & white fabrics plus one other color. This small quilt was made from pieces left over from another quilt.

Hula Auction Quilt - I made this quilt to take to Maui on our next trip. It will be donated as a silent auction item at our granddaughter's upcoming hula show/fundraiser.

Red Work

Happiness is... - Happiness is... was an applique quilt on the cover of Australian Patchwork and Quilting in 2002. Vol.7 No.8. This quilt continues to be my favorite in my collection of quilts.
