Adam's Wedding Quilt - 89X89 inches. Machine pieced, paper pieced, machine applique, machine quilted. Four and 1/2 inch blocks set on point. I used all the Dear Jane patterns that I could paper piece and machine applique and then filled in with other patterns from here and there. The outer border scallops are adapted from Linda Franz's version of the Dear Jane quilt.

Seven Cranes for Japan - After the tsunami, I wanted to do something to express my sympathy for the people of Japan. Since it's good luck to make one thousand origami cranes, I decided to make cranes. (But not one thousand!) Margaret Rolfe's pattern was available only in Australia, and when I ordered it, I couldn't wait for it to arrive in Canada. So in the meantime I traced a picture of one of the blocks and made my own foundation pattern. As a result, my cranes are facing the opposite direction from Margaret's. I'm sure the positive energy I stitched into them reached Japan anyhow!

Rainy Day - San Francisco, October 25, 2010 - The strength and durability of its architecture spanning over the waterfront on a gray and rainy day last October inspired me to take a cell phone photograph just as we exited after our own trip on the bridge across the Bay. To translate that photo into a quilt several shades of hand dyed gray cotton were raw edge appliquéd on a gradient printed ground. Textile paint, fabric markers, computer printed graphics and free motion quilting were used to translate the photo into a pictorial quilt which I hope captures the essential grandeur of the San Francisco Bay Bridge.

A Kiss From A Rose - Just your basic split rail fence pattern ... The material was so lovely that I couldn't live without it. So I made it & quilted it to give to my mom.

Val's Victory - An ovarian cancer quilt for a ovarian cancer survivor who is now battling pancreatic cancer. Blank Quilting's ovarian cancer materials collected over a period of four years.

No Such Thing (as black & white) - Made using shirtings in stripes and checks and a batik holiday shirt. Parts of batik pattern and bias cutting of checks and alternate directions used for design effect.

Strange Horses - The third quilt I made from this pattern to illustrate my article in British Patchwork and Quilting magazine. Uses Laurel Burch fabrics and batiks bought in Santa Fe. Now sold.

Cowboy hats - I made this quilt from flannel given by a neighbor. I make four patches and then put them into squares. I appliqued cowboys hats on the blue four patch. The cornerstones on the border have Woody from toy story embroidered on my Brother Quattro machine. I gave the quilt back to my neighbor.

Three Bean Salad - This is my 3rd quilt but my first quilt using my new Bernina 830. I love this machine!! I have pretty well mastered the embroidery attachment and used the jumbo hoop to quilt the top but I'd love it if Bernina could make a BIGGER hoop...:) I have been saving up for the quilt frame but the embroidery attachment does such a nice job I'm in no hurry. For my first attempt at this, I am very very happy and so is my daughter because she get this quilt...:) I want to mention this was a kit that came from Willow Creek Quiliting & gifts in Kalona, Iowa. If you ever get a chance to go there, they have a very large selection and their kits are beautiful!!! I just wish I could order their kits online.

StarLeo - I did the Quiltsmart small lone star with bear and other brown and green fabrics for our second California grandchild Leo. I added stripes at the top and bottom to give it the look of the now antique wool striped quilts my brothers had on their beds as children. I like the back as well as the front because it has that look in the crib

Fabric Talks to Me - I used a four patch kaleidoscope technique by fussy cutting four patches and mirror imaging them. Fabric by Judith Baker Monsanto. Shadow Play in shades of gold.

Sand Castles - Made from 3 Sisters fabrics by Moda, primarily Chocolate. This was my first experience at machine quilting with a pantograph. Previously, I used free motion machine quilting.

Fish Stand - This quilt was created to cover the bottom of our 55 gallon fish tank ... what do you think ... better than looking at the filter right?
