Limberlost 2006 - Limberlost, a small get away in Northern Ontario is the perfect place to relax and unwind. I took this picture of V and C on the dock because it begged to be made into a quilt. C got it for her 3rd birthday present - although she probably enjoyed the toy we gave her more!

Martha's Red Stars

Move Over Dr. Seuss - The original name for this was "Egret gets a new hair do!" but my daughter said it looked like a character out of one of the Dr. Suess books.

Rosie Spoonbill and her Babies - Shadow Trapunto: This provided me with the perfect opportunity to try out some new techniques I had been playing with for some time! The shadows are vibrant ONLY when WET!

Fish Tales - 3 koi machine appliqued onto convergence background. Made for my father's 80th birthday. He has always been drawn by the ocean, so the convergence in blue calls to mind the ocean. He is a fisherman, from salmon troller to aluminum boat as while as a Pisces. The two koi are circling in the Pisces symbol. And the little one in the corner? He's the "one that got away"! The fish are raw edged machine appliqued. Each scale is machine quilted as well as the facial expressions - as far as a fish can have expressions... Background quilting is a continuous circular wave pattern. Idenitifactio as well as dedication is on pocket in back. Inside the pocket is a printed description, dedication, care instructions and signature.

Autumn Splendor - I was inspired by the fall colors of the trees in my back yard and selected Batik fabrics (my favorites!) to express the beauty I saw in those trees. The Bargello pattern mimics the beautiful movement of the breezes rustling the leaves.

Princess Tea - Wall hanging, border added and machine quilted following design of picture. Additional flowers were cut out, fused and quilted to top.

Drunk In Bali - I love Batiks and I wanted a pattern where I could use as many as possible in one quilt. This seemed to be the answer. It was my first attempt at sewing curves, and after as many as there are in this quilt, I came up with the name of my quilt... after a few glasses of wine!!

My First Quilt - I took a quilt class to make this first quilt.

Purple Circles - This is a very small quilt that I did to learn the technique.

A Window for Oma - I made this quilt for my mother's 80th birthday. At the time, she was living in a retirement facility and unless she was standing next to a window, she had no view. As a result, I made "A Window for Oma".

Colorado Backproch BOM - This was a block of the month project from the Colorado Backporch website. About half way through the year they put out a challenge to make it a contest. This quilt earned the "Viewers Choice" prize.

Shared Flowers - This was a swap a block project in my "Bobbin Buddies" group.

Country Sampler - This was a year long project that we did in my quilting group. Each person made their own quilt. Each quilt had its own personality with different fabrics. Lots of fun.

Mammy - This is a mix of two different sources. It was actually started about 15 years ago. It is still in progress. Currently being hand quilted.

Appalachian Stars - Inspired by long distance gas balloon flights, spending hours overnight 3 miles up in the sky in a wicker basket, navigating by the stars, while my husband waits at home in Pennsylvania.
