Super Nova - This quilt was made from one fabric that was dyed from yellow to navy blue. This quilt was a semi-finalist at the AQS show in Knoxville 2010
Anemone - I made this quilt from a fabric that was dyed from a light green to a dark blue. This is the same pattern that I used for Super Nova. This quilt was a semi-finalist at the AQS show in Des Moines 2010.
Love-Me-Knot - This was my submission to the Hoffman Challenge 2010. It made it to the taveling show and is in trunk C. The next stop for this quilt is the Houston Quilt Market and Show. I fussy cut the challenge fabric so that it would recreate the designs after piecing.
Blue waves - This quilt was made from a class I took, which was only my second class. I am self taugh by watching Alex's show on HGTV. I learned so much from her.
Tangerine Dream - This quilt is my entry to the 2011 New Quilts From an Old Favorite contest sponsored by the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, KY. The block this year is the Orange Peel.
Winter Rose - It took me approximately one year to complete this quilt. The applique is free motion outline quilted and the sashings and borders free motion quilted with a leaf design. I wanted to challenge myself making this traditional quilt, as I usually make contemporary or art quilts. I enjoyed the applique aspect and using the bias maker to make the stems.
My Mother...Always My Angel - This pink angel quilt commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of my beautiful mother, Irene, on March 30, 1910. She was a breast cancer survivor and these 'pink' angels represent her hope, endurance, strength and faith. Mom was truly an inspiration to me...she's 'always my angel' and is always in my heart. This was my first attempt at back-basting needle-turn applique and ribbon embelishments. Since we spent countless hours together embroidering as I was growing up, I felt Mom like a guiding angel over my shoulder while making the quilt.
Sabu's Kaleidescope - Queen sized quilt. Custom quilted with 12 jungle animals hidden in quilting to carry out jungle theme. Sabu was a family cat named for the jungle boy story as he was born in a commercial greenhouse and spent his early days frolicing through the plants. He lived to be 20 years old.
OYGBV - Named OYGBV, this quilt had all the colors of the rainbow except red. Framing the quilt are stitched emotions and activities that color our world: adore, worry, yearn, mourn, dance, celebrate, hope, understand, trust, stumble, love, pray, sob, sing, wonder, relinquish.
Syke Cottage - My first landscape quilt started in a class with Joyce Becker, Kent, WA. Published in her second book- "Beautifully Embellished Landscapes". Inspiration from a cottage in the Lake District of England which my family rented to celebrate my 60th birthday.
Armslength Away - We take pictures of ourselves with cameras an armslength away. As wonderful as these keepsakes are, even better is knowing that the one you love is always right there next to you.
