Nifty Fifty!
Name of Maker: Carol Ferrari-Rogers
Nifty Fifty! - I adapted the pattern Pixie Patch by Heidi Pridemore to make the Red Hat, Nifty Fifty quilt for my daughter's mother-in-law for her 50th birthday on January 1, 2011. I hope she likes it!!!
Scrap Quilt One
Name of Maker: Nan Tuckerman
Scrap Quilt One - Was feeling at a loss wanted to sew ut not sure what to make so - on a whim decided to cut up my small stash into squares and various witdths strips and just sew. This is the first one finished. I like it and think is fits together well. Quilting is straight line - just enough to hold it all together.
Scrap Quilt Two
Name of Maker: Nan Tuckerman
Scrap Quilt Two - Not sure where I got this idea from - various pictures over the years and Google Images for scrap quilts. I didn't have a pattern for this - just worked it out myself. I am pleased with how it went together - I tried to be random and not worry about placing the colours but I found myself trying not to put the same colours side by side and now notice that I failed in that!
Scrap Quilt Three
Name of Maker: Nan Tuckerman
Scrap Quilt Three - Feeling more adventurous with this one. I am not fond of machine quilting and have been sticking to straight line but in this one I tried to do more FMQ - with limited success. I was unsure of quilting the borders but was inspired by Libby Lehman's tutorial with the Circular Embroidery attachment. I soon realised its impossible to do that process on a full quilt so I ended up using the walking foot and a variety of machine stitches (I was listening Ricky) around paper cirle templates. I like this one
Just Making A Point
Name of Maker: Shirlee Carter
Just Making A Point - I created this quilt as part of the 2010 Hoffman Challenge, adapting a pattern by Valori Wells called "Firefly". My quilt is named "Just Making A Point" and has been selected as part of the 2010 Hoffman Fabric traveling trunk show.
The Happy Couple
Name of Maker: Cheryl Martens
The Happy Couple - I used cotton muslin, native american print and turqoise solid fabric for the border. Chalk pastels and inks for the portrait, and covered in tulle. This portrait quilt was made for my friend's brother and his fiancee. She gave it to them for a wedding gift.
caroline's poppies
Name of Maker: anne carter
caroline's poppies - Made at a Caroline Sharkey workshop in 2010. Carolines's design with some colour changes. I mixed orange & yellow with the red poppies. Snippets of fabrics cut up & randomly machined onto a background with a water soluble washaway fabric, making a new fabric to cut into poppies & appliqued onto a similarly pieced background. Embellished with Ricky Tims' Razzle Dazzle thread in flower centres. Stems & leaf shapes appliqued & quilted.
nine lives
Name of Maker: anne carter

Name of Maker: Susan Cook

Joy-A Pieceful Celebration of Life
Name of Maker: Evelyn Bogen
Joy-A Pieceful Celebration of Life - Fabric motifs of African women and their children are centered in crazy piecework of colorful patterns including animals that peep out among the many layers surrounding each motif
Silly Jungle Snakes
Name of Maker: Vicki Fridle
Silly Jungle Snakes - Made using Silly Safari fabric from ModaI pieced all the background and then appliqued the celtic design on top. Since some of the blocks had a snake print, Rebecca quilted snakes all over the quilt. The 6 year old boy who received the quilt was very happy with the snakes.
My Challenge Quilt
Name of Maker: Karen
My Challenge Quilt - This is a quilt made as a challenge with my quilt group. We chose our own centre block, which I did following a Valori Wells pattern, and then each month were given a new instruction as to how to complete the next border. I prefer piecing so when the theme was 'flowers' I did foundation-pieced flowers, and for a nine-patch I did wonky little nine-patches on the corners of the previous border, and so on. The last border had to be 3-dimensional, so the triangles are made of large pieces of fabric scrunched to fir a smaller shape and beads have been sewn on. It was great fun and I learnt a lot from it, especially things like working out measurements and planning the colours.
Whirlin' Dervish
Name of Maker: GracE70
Whirlin' Dervish - This pattern was found online at MillerQuilts and I loved making it in my favorite colors. The machine quilter did an excellent job with the quilting.
Triptych
Name of Maker: GracE70
Triptych - I made the three pieces to be used together, thus the name Triptych for my quilt group challenge project. We were given a Michael Miller black and white fabric for the challenge in the fall of 2009 and it was finished for our February 2010 meeting. I tied for votes as viewers choice.
