Shoo, 'Fly - I made this one just for fun, using indigo fabrics from South Africa and reproduction shirting fabrics collected here. I do love playing with 3-D designs on flat surfaces. I tea-dyed some of the shirting fabrics to use in the asymmetric blocks, to help foster the 3-D illusion.

Through The Stars, To The Stars - I made this little quilt for the first House of Fabrics/SoFro contest in 1989. It won the Grand Prize and they sent me a lovely check and a box of goodies. Their businesses have since disappeared. I hope it wasn't me. The quilt now is on permanent loan to my mother, Regina Smith, who lives in Corpus Christi, TX, just up the road a piece. It was one of my first attempts at making a two dimensional surface appear to be three dimensional. It's rather faded since this picture was taken, but still looks quite good for its age.
