Elephant Dreams
Name of Maker: dfehr
Elephant Dreams - This was my entry to the 2010 Hoffman challenge. Although it was returned, it is one of my favorite quilts. It is hand pieced and quilted, and machine appliqued. I love elephants and the fabric for 2010 reminded me of asian elephants. The binding is fabric I printed on my printer using Adobe Illustrator, and the text on this fabric consists of famous quotes about elephants.
Make a Joyful Noise
Name of Maker: debby schnabel
Make a Joyful Noise - This quilt represents all the many types of praise that are pleasing to God. Many words of praise are 'hidden' in the quilting. Currently hanging in the narthex of Grace Fellowship Church.
A Dream for Africa
Name of Maker: debby
A Dream for Africa - Made as a gift for Vaporsports. The image of a happy group of Africans is the dream. For many, reality is little food and no clean water. We can all help the dream become a reality.
Garden Posies
Name of Maker: Jean Ann Wright
Garden Posies - I loved the cameo flowers on the border of this fabric. I scanned them and blew them up on my computer, then traced each flower to make the applique patterns for the blocks. I used a rail fence setting and with only 8 blocks arranged the blocks to zig and zag from row to row.
Circle of Nine Star Galaxy
Name of Maker: Jean Ann Wright
Circle of Nine Star Galaxy - Janet Houts and I have created a new setting for quilts. It works with any 9 blocks and uses spacers instead of sashings to arrange the blocks into an easy to use setting. I designed this one for Marcus Fabrics and made the quilt last year.
Texas T's
Name of Maker: Jean Ann Wright
Texas T's - I found the cowgirl fabric and thought it would be perfect for my Texas granddaughter (8 years old). I made the quilt and when I showed it to her she said, "I don't like blue all that much". So I kept it. Maybe some day I will give it to her.
Oh-Oh Olivia!
Name of Maker: Jean Ann Wright
Oh-Oh Olivia! - Windham sent me these fabrics and they screamed, DOTS!" I sewed 8" squares together then cut out and added applique circles to move the large circles from the borders to the center of the quilt. It sewed up as a full size quilt in just a day!
Sound Waves
Name of Maker: Jean Ann Wright
Sound Waves - I have a friend who is a jazz musician so I was thrilled to make a quilt with a music themed fabric. I cut the nine patch squares "wonky" , mixed them up and sewed them together using a shuffle system. After the blocks were finished I squared them off using an 8" square ruler and a zig-zag blade on my rotary cutter. Then I appliqued the blocks on top of the black squares. It sounds involved, but I made the top in a day.
Eat Your Veggies
Name of Maker: Jean Ann Wright
Eat Your Veggies - I love these veggie fabrics. This collection is by Blank Quilting. I decided to do the red and white checked squares in the sashings because they remind me of Purina feed sacks. When the fabric is great, keep the design and setting simple. I did the "wonky" square in a square blocks for the background of the feed labels, which were cut with a zig-zag rotary cutter and applique on top.

Convergence
Name of Maker: Laurie Moegenburg
Convergence - This quilt is made with batiks and the technique is from Ricky Tims book. I used metallic thread and Libby Lehman's style of thread play when making the ribbons that flow in and out. The monarch butterfly has become my signature, so I added it to the quilt.
