I decided to do the red and white checked squares in the sashings because they remind me of Purina feed sacks. When the fabric is great, keep the design and setting simple. I did the "wonky" square in a square blocks for the background of the feed labels, which were cut with a zig-zag rotary cutter and applique on top.
