Patriotic Diagonal Nine Patch
Name of Maker: Nancy Parker
Patriotic Diagonal Nine Patch - This quilt had to be made using Citizen Support for Americas Military (Citizen SAM) specifications for gurney or stretcher quilts. These quilts are sent to military installations overseas and given to critically injured American soldiers either being transported to overseas military hospitals or being transported back to the states via troup carrier planes. These planes used to transport the troops have little airconditioning and the warmth from these quilts not only provides comfort to the injured but also gives them something more cheerful than the dull military blanket. Anyone can go to the Citizen SAM web page and look at the various projects all designed to given comfort or a bit of cheer to the men and women so graciously indangering their lives to protect our countries freedom. I urge you to take a look at the web page at www.citizensam.org and be sure to look at the feedback sent to them by the doctors and nurses who work in these military hospitals.

Thrift Store purchase

Thrift Store purchase - The hand pieced top was found by Cyndi at a thrift Shop in Naples Florida, for $3.00. I made it into a quilt for her along with some fabric I bought on-line that went together with the green and pink in the center. It is about 76 x 84 or so. I hope she enjoys it. See my profile for the border and corner photo.
Turning Twenty
Name of Maker: Nancy Parker
Turning Twenty - My youngest sister has looked after our Mother for several years and I made this quilt for her as a token of my love and appreciation as I live far enough away that I'm little help to her. It's made of 20 fat quarters using prints in fall colors of brown, gold, green, and reds and quilted using a leaf pattern. I added a border to make the quilt larger. The backing is a light gold with a brown small print.

Bear Paw Applique Wonder
Name of Maker: QuiltB7
Bear Paw Applique Wonder - This is my first quilt made for my mother in law (of one year at the time). She liked bright colours. I made this quilt in 1973 to 1975 for their 25th wedding anniversary--I was 21 when I started it. Not knowing anything about quilting, I bought a magazine. Thinking back, I am sure it must have been a pieced quilt, but at the time, I thought I should be able to do it by hand, on my way to work on the bus. I also wanted to make it out of clothing and things she would remember, and apparently fibre content was not a consideration for me.
Grace's Flower Garden

I'm a Hopeless Romantic
Name of Maker: Leeann Hansen
I'm a Hopeless Romantic - I made this quilt using some of the blocks from Aie Rossman book "Affairs of the Heart". Hand stitched button hole applique using embroidery floss. I designed the embroidery on the outside border, to match the embroidery on the blocks. Most blocks were stitched as I watched my son at his archery club.
