Wahington to Obama 220 years
Name of Maker: Sue Watters
Wahington to Obama 220 years - Made for Quilts UK 2009 theme category, Stars and Stripes, Centres of the block have past presidents names printed in and of course Barak Obama. A friend gave me the Washington's head panel and Declaration of Independece panel for my birthday which was the day after the inauguration so this is what I came up with.
Name of Maker: Ruth Ann Hawley
"Ethel Reni Rileyo" - This is my mom as a baby. She is now 92 years old. I printed the picture using my ink jet printer on muslin treated with Bubble Jet Set 2000. It printed on 4 sheets. I pieced the picture then added the borders. I machine quilted around the picture and borders and then hand quilted around her body and the chair. My grandpa called my mother by his pet name Ethel Reni Rileyo. Her name is Ethel Irene Riley Hendges.
Carnivale Wallhanging
Name of Maker: Micki
Carnivale Wallhanging - This is a 47x47 wallhanging which is totally paper pieced. It has lots of spikes and curves and I used all batik fabrics. I did a lot of free motion quilting. The spike arcs are a bit skewed in order to add interesting movemet to the quilt.
Geishas in the Garden Wall Quilt
Name of Maker: Micki
Geishas in the Garden Wall Quilt - I machine embroidered all the designs using the Blackwork Collection of geisha designs. I used oriental fabric for the borders and Michael Miller Fairy Frost for the background. I machine quilted the entire quilt.

Name of Maker: Jami Patton

“Not ready for heaven…yet!”
Name of Maker: Sylvie Mathis
“Not ready for heaven…yet!” - “Not ready for heaven…yet!” was hand pieced and quilted by machine. Following my tradition of trying something new with each quilt, this quilt is no exception; it was my first attempt of machine quilting with designs [Ruban of Life & Christian Fish quilted patterns]. Each fabric is part of earlier collections created especially for “Quest for a Cure” by www.Northcott.net. The collection “Even Can Wait” [backing] and “Rose Garden Tea” [checker] by Ro Gregg of Northcott were my focus fabrics. The block pattern is from the “Starts of my heart” quilt designed by Nancy Mahoney (Fons & Porters’, Love of Quilting, Jan/Feb 2009). For my friend Barbara, for her 1st Survival Birthday.
They Shine for You
Name of Maker: Debbie Williams

Irish Chain
Name of Maker: Deborah
Irish Chain - Attended a Mystery Quilt evening at my local quilt shop as Ireland was the theme that night in order to celebrate my Irish heritage.
Home Sweet Home
Name of Maker: Deborah
Home Sweet Home - This quilt was made for my husband who moved to Canada from the USA when we married. It has stars and stripes for the USA and delectable mountains, flying geese, and paper pieced trees in honour of his Idaho home. He does get homesick living on the Canadian Prairies.
Elegant Oriole
Name of Maker: ashgrovemo
Elegant Oriole - I took a closeup of an Oriole that was stunned when it flew into our window. I printed it out on cotton and then quilted it. This quilt was made for Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. Four layers of batting were used at the beak and three for the bird. Tip: when you do heavy trapunto you should allow enough border to square the quilt. The border was printed with the picture so I was unable to do so.
Dad's 80th Birthday Quilt
Name of Maker: W. Beth Long
Dad's 80th Birthday Quilt - From the label: Dear Dad, When I told you I would make you a quilt for your 80th birthday, you requested the quilt be “exciting.” I hope this quilt pattern fits that description. The designer didn’t necessarily intend the pattern to be symbolic, but my version has love and meaning sewn into each stitch. The large star, with the colorful crown, is you, Dad, the king of our family. From that, there are 10 8-pointed stars that shine to mark the 80 years you’ve lit up the lives of your family and friends. Two are hidden, representing the little bits of each of us we keep to ourselves and hidden from others. The colorful spikes and flying geese represent all the different kinds of people you’ve touched throughout the years. This quilt, like life, contains many paths; some end abruptly; some never end; and some blend smoothly into others. The texture of the quilting characterizes the highs and lows experienced along the way. Finally, the many dots, both large and small, are like the blessings and bits of wisdom you’ve gifted to me, far too many to count. The Feinman-family ties are strong and precious threads no matter where we roam! Happy 80th birthday! Stitched with all my love, Beth Machine pieced and quilted by W. Beth Long, El Mirage, AZ With the exception of quilting with nylon thread on the top, the entire quilt is 100% cotton. Pattern: The Colourful Quilt, by Jacqueline de Jonge (with minor modifications by the maker) Started in a 2-day workshop with Jacqueline at Quilting in the Desert, Phoenix, AZ, in 01/2009 Completed 05/2009 (in time for Dad’s birthday on August 22nd) NOTES (not on label): One circle was hand-appliqued because I just couldn't get it to fit. Even tore the circle and star, on one attempt, and had to remake it. I modified the bottom right corner of the pattern by replacing the NY beauty arc with a wonky-flying-geese arc, which I designed, and adding that NY beauty arc to the star next to/above it. Update: My dad was able to enjoy this quilt for, just shy of, 2 years. He passed on April 8, 2011. I'll forever hold sweet memories of him receiving it. The pic is in my profile: http://www.thequiltshow.com/os/photo_edit.php/photos_id/5099.
Habitat for Humanity
Name of Maker: Not Known
Habitat for Humanity - While visiting the Plains GA cafe my husband and I saw this quilt. Made for President Carter and given to the owner of the Cafe to display.
Tropical Garden Window
Name of Maker: Melynda Holtsberry
Tropical Garden Window - This is the first quilt I have made for myself. I had some bright tropical print fabric I decided not to use in my Grandaughter's graduation quilt. I used the colors in it to determine the remainder of fabrics. Since I was limited by the quantity of this large print, I reversed the large and overall print in the pattern and am pleased by the result. I also added an extra 4 inch border all around so I had plenty of overhang and room to cover pillows on my bed. The squared are quilted with a varieagated thread in a tropical flower design and the sashes are a machine pattern stitch using the same thread. The lavender border is free motion leaves and the teal is large stipple. I also made pieced, quilted valances for my two windows and two throw pillows with another in the works.
For Malachi
Name of Maker: Audrey
For Malachi - After crocheting shawls for Meshach and Josiah, I decided it was time to do something different when Karen's 3rd baby was expected. An "I Spy" was the result. As I assembled it I kept a jumbled record of each triangle, and Meshach busied himself in the hospital "spying".
For Eri
Name of Maker: Audrey
For Eri - This quilt was made for a dear friend who lives in Japan. Since it is some time since I made and sent it, I am not positive about the details!! !#$%^&*!
