Bethan's Quilt - A small baby quilt for my niece's new baby. It started with my daughter picking out a set of 2" strips. Then I had to figure out what to do with them.

Kansas in June
Name of Maker: Patricia Hobbs
Kansas in June - "Kansas in June" depicts my parent's 1937 wedding day. Mother's dress is similar in the original shape, but is a white on white crazy quilt. Dad's jacket is pieced, and he is entangled in the rose vine of the garden reception. Stained glass denotes the church wedding.
The Unknown Swedish Immigrant
Name of Maker: Patricia Hobbs
The Unknown Swedish Immigrant - The Unknown Swedish Immigrant is based on the works of Rene Magritte, but the image is my grandfather. A computer printed scrim of batiste lists my grandfather's "stats." The bottom edge of the quilt has a fringe made of inchies, beads and hand dyed silk cocoons.
Harvest Moon Wool Quilt
Name of Maker: Patricia Hobbs
Harvest Moon Wool Quilt - My mother, Leatha Adler, had pieced the rectangles from wool suiting. This was the background for my wool appliques, roving shading and Sashiko-like quilting. The actual design is based upon my backyard and garden.
Garden at the Wall
Name of Maker: Patricia Hobbs
Garden at the Wall - The idea was to put garden flora and fauna up against the stones of a wall. The stones are like some I have seen on buildings in Nova Scotia. The appliqued flowers and animals reside in my garden. The quilt was pieced together block by block.
Graduation Quilt
Name of Maker: Beth French
Graduation Quilt - I can't remember the name of this block. The fabrics are mostly Australian bush designs. The quilting was done on a long arm machine at a nearby shop where you can rent by the hour. It was my first and only long arm quilt experience. After a lesson from the shop owner and help from a friend, I completed the top in a morning. This quilt was for my son's high school graduation gift. He takes it to college to use in the dorm.
Sherman's Delight
Name of Maker: Beth French
Sherman's Delight - The name of this quilt is in honor of my mother, who loved these colors, especially the gold. Machine pieced and hand quilted.
Juicy
Name of Maker: Beth French
Juicy - After taking a class from Judy Mathieson at Maine Quilts 2006, I bought her books Mariner's Compass Quilts. This star block is a very simple variation of the Mariner's Compass. I used many strawberry fabrics, hence the title "Juicy".
