Carson's Star - I worked on this star design with my 7 year old son, Carson. I drew it and re-drew it to suit him, changing dimensions and colors. It is paper-pieced and will be one of nine stars in the finished quilt.
Kokopelli Plays the Blues - This is the second wall hanging I have completed using this pattern. The original
is in blues and greens. I like these colors as well
Sunshine Bouquet - Sunshine Bouquet is the result of the class I took with Ann Fahl in Tucson in September, 2008. I was determined to stick with it and finish it so I wouldn't have another UFO! I learned a lot and quickly enjoyed the thread painting technique, which was the focus of the class. Techniques in this quilt are: fused raw-edged machine applique; thread painting; free-motion embroidery and free-motion quilting.
Beware of Geeks Bearing Gifts - A challenge quilt where the robots fabric (in one size) was the challenge. I resized them to look like they were approaching Earth bearing their gifts.
Pinwheel Explosion - When I saw this on Alex's show, I had to make one !!! I bought the quilt book which has many variations and I'm sure I'm going to try others. This was my first project using the paper-piecing technique.
Travis's reminder of the Chesapeake - 75 pieces in the flying geese portion were my trial by fire as I taught myself paper-piecing. That section took me an entire weekend, with lots of unsewing. The reward was my son's response when he received his present.
The Aquarium - Background fabric said SEASCAPE Hidden humor, seahorses, crabs, coolie loach, plantlife rocks/coral reefs made from DMC floss. 1 fish swims the opposite direction, border print cats love to watch the unsuspecting life inside.
Gavin's Quilt - Quilt made for my best friend who was having a new boy. Fabrics chosen by the Father. Pattern was simplified the by making outer squares the same color. Click on picture to see larger image. Additional Close-up Pics in my personal photos - check them out!
For the Love of Animals - Inspired by Alexander Henry's Exotica - Lion Eyes in B&W panel. Made for my 3 year old daughter who's obsessed with animals. I cut up the panel to allow me to create a sort of photo-collage of the animals.
Blue Christmas 08 - 6" flannel blocks with vintage Christmas graphics to match a 'jelly roll' pillow case and dream of Christmas wonders with excitement!
Christine's Thankyou Bird - A very small quilt completed as a thank you to my son's roommate for giving up her room for a week while I visited. A thank you note is embroidered on the back, done with a Bernina Artista.
