Honey Bee Quilt
body of water
Name of Maker: seminolelinda
body of water - This is an improvised pieced quilt constructed using hand dyed batiks I bought in a scrap bundle from Bold Over Batiks in 1992, I _think_. I found it again recently during a renovation of our downstairs at home. It is still unfinished but I am sharing it here in case it sinks below the surface of my attention again. (grin) I am really enjoying working with these intense colors!
Fond Farewell
Name of Maker: Peggy Jebavy
Fond Farewell - Made from a photo I took of a Hibiscus in my front yard using techniques by Susan Purney Mark for my boss when she moved to a new position at another library. I used Quilted Treasures photo cotton fabric and organza to print my photo on fabric.
balancing act
Name of Maker: PAT ARNDT
balancing act - a quilt guild challenge of a self portrait. I was having a very bad year and it wasn't getting any better!! My trying to "balance" was falling short. The challenge was to use their very unusual fabrics with at least 2 inches showing together.
Name of Maker: Karen Miller
"B"- One with his music - I used Ricky's Convergence pattern as my background. The silhouette is of my grandson, taken from a photo, enlarged 150% then fused. Details then stitched in grey thread.
Serene Autumn
Name of Maker: Pat Lassak
Serene Autumn - Twin size quilt that seems to have light coming from behind the darker halves of the stepping stones design
Loving Blue
Name of Maker: Pat Lassak
Loving Blue - Lap Quilt made from my blue scraps stash. I used a border print to give it some pizazz. Will probably be a gift to a friend.
Miko's Stars
Name of Maker: Miko, Pat Lassak
Miko's Stars - The eight pointed stars were among a large group I purchased at a garage sale in Kenai, Alaska. I was told that they had been pieced by hand by a neighbor lady named Miko, who had passed away suddenly at age 71. I believe she would have wanted them to continue into a finished quilted item. So I placed them in four corners (she had already attached the white squares to sets of 4 stars) of a table topper. I think of this quilter who I never met everytime I look at the the table with the topper on it. I like to think she is smiling somewhere at seeing her work taken care of.
In Olden Days
Name of Maker: Pat Lassak
In Olden Days - This is a BOM quilt of old style blocks that came with paper templates. I converted them to more modern measurements for accurancy and ease in making the blocks. Quilting consists of an undulating feathered border and large feathered circles centered on each of the 20 blocks. The quilt was made for donation to InterFaith Quilters of Longmont , CO for their annual sale to raise money for local charities.
These Boots are Made for Skiing
Name of Maker: Pat Lassak
These Boots are Made for Skiing - This quilt was made as a gift for a young woman who is studying to be a ski coach. It will be given to her sometime in 2009. She is an Alaskan so many of the boots sport Alaskan themes. The boots are all paperpieced with was a surprise for the maker who thought she was purchasing an applique pattern. The original pattern has 20 different boots but I thought boots should be in pairs so made 2 of each. As always, only cotton fabrics, batting and threads are used in my quilts. It was a very fun quilt to make. The hardest thing was finding the ski themed fabric for the red border and there is also a section of backing done in a blue ski themed fabric.
Lots of Kitties for Haylee
Name of Maker: Pat Lassak
Lots of Kitties for Haylee - What fun making these appliqued kitties. They are set on poing and inerspersed with blocks containing appliqued flowers. Quilting consists of free-style flower fines and traditional feathered hearts. Made for my grandaughter.
Class Quilt
Name of Maker: Daisy Mier Fredericks
Class Quilt - I made this quilt for my daughter's kindergarten class. It was auctioned at the school fundraising auction for $300. Each child in the class has their name on an apple, fish, or star. The border blocks were cut from a pre-printed panel, they have the Beattitudes Teddy Bears on them. I also stitched their class scriptures and info on the quilt. As you can see, the sun shines through and shows that I used two green panels for the backing.. bad bad bad.. I never thought of it until it was too late! Oh well Live and learn!
