Proud Peacock

Medallion quilts are, for me, the perfect medium to expand on an idea throughout the process of designing and making the quilt. I could have stopped at many points in this quilt and decided that is what I want to make. This quilt started with a Hoffman digital print fabric I found and loved during my areas "Shop Hop" 2016 that inspired me. I had just finished a Lone Star medallion quilt and was inspired by the many possibilities of Lone Star variations. When I was done piecing it, it reminded me of a peacock in full plumage. That was then the inspiration for the quilting I did on it. It's my "Y-seam quilt", lots and lots of Y-seams went into making this.

Carol Ann, I love this quilt.

The fabric choices are beautiful. I have a hard time picking the fabrics for my projects but you obviously have a knack for it. One thing I've started doing is looking a the colors chosen for quilts I like and using them for inspiration. Your beautiful quilt will be added to that list.

The piecing is perfect. I constantly strive to perfect my piecing skills so when I see a quilt that I really like, I'm guilty of looking quite closely. Your piecing is absolutely perfect.

Your quilting is stunning as well. Your quilting design is a perfect match for the quilt design to enhance it without overpowering it. And it was hand quilted? Wow!

Carol Ann, you are an amazing quilter. I'd love to hang out with you both in the fabric store and the sewing room. Keep up the great work.
