Sallyquilts Fossil Fueled - this quilt was the result of a class with Barbara Olson at Asilomar this last Spring. We were encouraged to bring objects from the natural world (I chose some pieces from my son's fossil collection)sketch and photograph them in various arrangements, and then interpret these images in fabric. I fused the composition using 100% cotton batiks and hand dyed fabrics, added dimension and detail with colored pencils and paint, free motion quilted the quilt with silk threads and added beads for emphasis. I was honored to have this quilt chosen as a finalist in the IQA Judged Show - Quilts: A World of Beauty at Quilt Festival in Houston in 2010.
