Design Source - Description | This quilt was designed for a challenge issued on Dena Crain's "Darned Quilts" group on Yahoo.com for graduates of her classes on making "darned" quilts taught on Quilt University.com. After I had pieced the background, it reminded me of mental images of Africa, and the migrations of wildebeests. So I added the aminals, then freehanded the machine thread painting of the acasia tree as a focal point. It was part of an exhibition of my quilts at our retirement center last October that was open to the public. A local person saw it, and bought it! What a thrill for me. I regard all my quilts as children, and hate to part, but I have the photo and that is what counts, plus the ego trip of a sale. |
