TQS presents "Zoo Nouveau" (approx. 42" x 45"), afabulous multi-technique filled summer quilt project designed by Ann Myhre. Along with a design that we know you are just going to love, Ann has included over a dozen techniques including: Beading, Bias Binding Appliqué, Broderie Perse, Couching, Curved Piecing, Painting, Sashiko, Stenciling, and Thread Painting.
This is what I've done so far. I'm waiting to do the beading and some embroidery until the very end. I ended up doing needle turn appliqué on the butterflies after I made one block by hand and it just didn't look right. Now to start the frogs. I may do machine embroidery for the frogs and vines not sure yet.

Wow Sandi. I am loving what is on your design wall! Everything looks really beautiful and cohesive. The frogs you cut out are adorable! What a great way to see if they'll work before (and if!) you dive into the thread painting work. Which is a bit time consuming but very fun. And ya know...if you decide to use the fussy cut frogs, you can always do a bit of hand embroidery or beading on them to bring them to life. Nice job and thanks for sharing!

Here is my latest progress. I haven't posted since I posted that first picture and want everyone to know I AM working on this! LOL. I don't have any of the parts actually completed (my peacock needs his head done and he needs some beads, butterflies need their bodies and the mirrors need to be sewn on). Haven't decided if I am going to do the frogs...what I have on the design wall are some frogs cut from a piece of novelty fabric just so I can see what they will look like. I may thread paint on them first to see how it looks. I am waiting for my stencil to arrive so I can do the painting. I am learning lots of things doing this project thanks to Ann's creativity!
omg that's wonderful!
and it looks so great! You are at my favorite place - the playground is all quilted and now we can play with the play structures. Woot!
nice job
