I'll be reviewing my storage of thread in a couple of weeks.I have a big collection...most of it Superior. Presently I store by the Superior collection name and then by its thread number. Makes it easy to know what I have or need!. A bit more difficlut when it comes to choosng color. Most of the time I choose the thread on how it's to be used and then may gather all colors I want to use.
Thank you for your responses!

I tend to sort out by colour and type (rayon to the back and cottons to the front) in a three or four tier small plastic drawer system. The more common and go to threads sit in a thread tray that is part of my sewing table wing. I do keep my large variegated cones in a shallow basket for easy access and when not in use I cover them with an antique hankie to protect them from light and especially dust.

I mostly store by brand- mettler 50 wt in one location, Aurifil 50wt in another, etc. Mostly because I can then see if I have the aurifil in the color I need quickly. Some of the thread is in a drawer in my Horn cabinet, in a large plastic silverware container. some is in another cabinet that has plastic drawers just made for Aurifil thread! Kathy

I would like some comments on how you all store your thread collections. By Brand or by color or another method??
Thanks in advance!
