I have just managed to find some people in one of the chatrooms for the very first time. I was quite excited. There were about 8 members listed, but only two of them talking. I thought that the normal thing in a chatroom is to say 'hello' to anybody new coming in. I waited for several minutes, read the conversation and then plucked up my courage and said 'Hi'. Nothing...... A few minutes later the two quilters finished their conversation and left the room. I must admit that I felt ignored. Am I over-sensitive here or do we need to state somewhere what polite behaviour in a chatroom should be like??

Sweet Lorchen, you are NOT over-sensitive!
I have had the same experience as you..I felt rather stupid. I said HI when I entered the room, but no one said HI back..and then they left the room. Its RUDE!!!
BUT, then again I have been in one of the chatrooms, made greate friends that would last for a lifetime. One thing we always do is say HI when other enters the room and try to include them in our conversation. We all have one thing in common, QUILTING, so we have something to say or ask anyone. And I think its a greate way to include our new members to our club too!
I hope next time you visit a chatroom you will have a real greate time, because most of us are wonderful people;)
