Introducing the 2013 TQS Block of the Month designed by Sue Nickels and Pat Holly! It's called "TWO OF US" and was created by the two of them. The quilt measures 79" x 79" and was completed just in time for Houston.

Rosamond, I prewash even little scraps by soaking them in the kitchen sink. I don't use any soap, just let them soak for about a half hour, wring them out, and let them air dry. That way it gets out all the chemicals in the fabric, pre-shrinks the fabrics, and if bleeding is going to occur, you can see it in the sink. You can use soap, but I don't wash my quilts with soap, so I don't use it on the fabrics. If it looks like a fabric is bleeding, I use a little bit of Retayne to stop it.

Question: How do you handle the material for kits as far as washing the fabric? Some of these pieces are just that...pieces. I always wash yardage but don't know about this one. Rosamond

The lady at my quilt shop suggested Rasant, it won't be as pretty a thread as yours, but it looks okay in my practice pieces, nice smooth look. Thanks for the pic very encouraging. Regards Gail in Oz
