Bendable table top Ott light 16 Nov 2014 09:46 #123441

I bought two bendable lights at Ikea yesterday (my first and last visit ;) what a madhouse)

The first was a $10.00 little table lamp, very heavy base with a tiny (nonreplaceable) blub that gives a very good circle of light. To use when I'm sewing with my Singer 404
I also bought a bendy on a heavy floor stand to use for sewing when I'm tucked in bed, it was $30.00 ish I think and takes a prong light.. Had a very good circle of light in the store, I took handwork to test ;)

I use a Bendable Bright Light, which is very bright and effective. Its bracket sticks to the left side of your machine; you can bend the light in any direction. It has a power cord (not battery operated). Only drawback is that you can't replace the bulb -- if it goes (my first one went after about 12 years) you need to get a whole new light.

I don't have that particular light but I do have an Ott table lamp and the base is very heavy so I can move the light without it falling over--does this help?

Hi Susan, I don't have a bendable Ott light so I can't help you with this either. But I do have a clip on bendable Ikea light which is not brilliant but better than nothing. I suggest you go to the shop and try the light in the position you would like it and if it doesn't fall over then go for it. :)

Hi fellow quilters, My friend has a new batter operated LED Ott light. It gives a wonderful light. She did purchase a cord for class sewing which greatly increased the price. I saw an LED Ott light that would sit on a table and has a bendable stand that I am hoping could be directed to where I need the light. However, I am concerned that the base may not be sturdy enough to hold the light several inches lower and twisted toward my machine area. Does anyone have experience with this type of Ott light? Susan
