My hands were aching just a bit today after a week at work at my computer, so I just thought I'd try using my electric scissors for free-form cutting of cloud appliques in my knight quilt. I was really astonished at how wonderful the result was, and how much it saves my hands and time. It actually is much better than I could have done with regular scissors. If you have some of these electric scissors and want to make things like applique clouds, mountains, streams, ornamental grasses, or trees, for instance, that benefit from non-precise cutting, this may work for you. I plan on gluing my appliques on with a stick glue to enable stitching, but you could also iron some fusible webbing on your fabric and then cut it out. I like the glue stick because it washes completely away and leaves the quilt softer, but sometimes I opt for the webbing when I need stability added.
