Soft- Edge Pieced border on Lone Star Garden quilt 05 Jan 2020 09:14 #146680

Helen, the borders are each long lengths of border stripe fabric. Jinny created a technique she calls “soft edge piecing”—she wrote a book about it. That’s why I kept buying more of that stripe. Each of the 8 diamonds in the Star was cut from one piece of border stripe, each cut exactly the same as each other—that took lots of fabric.

Barbara, I clicked on your Lone Star Garden image that TQS is using for the puzzle. I particularly loved the border you did on that quilt.
Is that needle turn, or machine appliqué with turned glue edge? Did you do it as a pieced border in blocks or is it just one long stripe on each side.
Very unique, and very beautiful. Love all Jinny Byer fabrics. HelenW
