There are some types of quilts that are difficult if not impossible to design in EQ7, so if they could be done in version 8 that would be a selling point for me. This is me, exactly. The introductory upgrade price only lasts so long, so I'm trying like mad to figure it out before the price increase, in case I decide I want it. So far, I can't see a lot of changes that make it worth the price, other than some nice tidbits on fabric estimates and stuff. The rest seems aimed at making it more user friendly for the stuff it already has, but not necessarily easier for doing things it can't already do, if that makes sense. At least, as far as I've read so far. I could be missing something though.
