What a timely posting! I am in the midst of making a log cabin quilt for our newly acquired but old four poster bed, and I had figured out how I was going to accommodate the posts....don't know why I didn't think to Google it....but that is exactly what I came up with! At least I exercised some brain cells, and was on the right track! I had decided that I would put muslin space-holder blocks in the two "divet" corners so the LA quilter will have something to secure the entire width with, and then will carefully cut them away before binding. Hope it works out! Nancy

I don't know why I thought my problem was so unique. All I had to do was google "quilt for four poster bed" and I found a bunch of images showing that my imagined solution was exactly what our ancestors already did!
Has anybody made a quilt in this shape these days? I think I am about to. I may use the sashing to create the T shape, and leave my main blocks intact.
