I just finished a double-sided flannel blanket 40" square. The baby shower was yesterday. All guests had a great time, HOWEVER, mother and baby were in the hospital. The little guy came one month early. It may take awhile for this little 5 lb 4 oz bundle of joy to grow into his blanket! I am sure that it will be well used for a few years!

that's a good question. How would this be standard? Is it to lay an infant on the floor, to cover them in a crib, to just swaddle an under 12 lb child? Seems to me that it could be anything you want.

What SIZE are baby blankets?

What is a good size for a baby blanket?? For my DD I made them 50 in x 50 in .... per her request. Her quilts needed to be able to drape over the car seat to keep cold wind out when going in and out of the house from the car. She liked bigger quilts so that was what I made.
I need to know what is the size of standard baby quilts as I need to make a series of them this summer.
