I started following Bonnie's blog this year and watching quilt cam while working on a Scrappy Trip Around the World and also working on hexagons for another quilt when I feel like doing some hand sewing.

I really enjoy quilt cam, so relaxing. However, with her talk about vintage machines I ended up getting a Singer Slant-o-Matic "Rocketeer" from a thrift store for $25.00. Gave it a good cleaning and oiling and it works great. Sounds like a small jet. I believe it's birth date was 1961. I am using it to make the Scrappy Trip. I have never made a true scrappy before and it's amazing how "ugly" fabrics look good. It feels good to use some of my "Why did I buy that? fabric."

Looks just wonderful - makes me keener than ever to have ago at it, I knew there was no way I could manage it as the sew-a-long, but It does look fun. (perhaps I should get it organised as a leaders and enders project  )

Renata..It was fun to piece. I'd never done a mystery quilt before and making it in units led to some surprises...
like running out of backround and having to" make do" . It's all from stash...now to get a
backing together !!

I didn't get to do the quilt, but I got to see Bonnie's quilt IN PERSON at a recent book signing in Marietta, GA! The book signing turned into a trunk show and show and tell. She is so good with people!
