I also sew off the edge at 45 degrees when 1/4" from the corner. That gives a nice sharp fold line for the miter. And then sew back on with a backstitch to start the next section. Works great!

Did see your video about binding. Had to tell you about the little thing we do different from you. When we reach 1/4 inch before the corner we are sewing 45 degree right out to the corner. Then fold it like you do. When we start on a new side we start about 1/2 inch down and backstitch first.
