Hi all, I looked on Amazon- they only had the "new" version. I looked on the internet at alternatives, woke up this AM and decided to go back to Joann since they had a 50% off sale. Got the 18 inch one, since I already had the 24 inch one to replace the "other" lamp that burned out :x . with my 50% off coupon I got a replacement bulb for the 24 inch one so when it burns out i'll at least have a couple more years on it. Next coupon I will go back and get an 18 inch replacement bulb for the new lamp. I read multiple complaints about the Ott lites including comments about the customer service, telling people just to go to joann's and buy a new one. This will give me time to consider other options, since I'm sure that others of my Ott lites are about to go out too! The built in obsolescence bothers me. On Earth Day no less!

I was able to find the correct Ott light bulb for my older model on amazon.com several months ago.

My hubby bought just the full-spectrum lightbulb, and put it into the normal desk light that I use by my sewing machine. Wonderful results for just $3.

I think that you ought to complain to Ott lite as well! They are not cheap, and to withdraw the bulbs is downright antisocial.

I have a friend here in Canada that bought an equivalent light at Wall-Mart. I would assume you could the same in the US. I also know that now you can get full spectrum lights in long bulbs like our old fashioned fluorescent ones and here they cost about $ 25 can each.

Does anyone in the US use another sewing light besides Ott Lites? I'm looking for an alternative. The replacement bulbs they make now do not fit my existing lamps!
