TOPIC: Quilting Cruise

Re: Quilting Cruise 04 May 2012 10:09 #80170

I have been on two quilt cruses. The best was hosted by "Stitchin Heaven" in Texas. They handled it all and we had great teachers, choices in the quilts to work on and just great fun. Will go with them again. It was on Royal Carribean, and wonderful. Laurel

Some husbands did attend. On stops when not quilting you have many land excursions to pick from, or just browse. There is swimming on board, weight rooms, messages, games in lounges, libraries, internet access, etc. They also rent DVDs for free so you can watch some movies in down times. The dining experiences are great.

Did you take a nonquilter with you? I'm wondering what my husband might do?

On my 10 day quilting cruise two of the days were at sea without a stop. We had classes during that time. Also there was a room set up with many machines we could go to and quilt every day on our own. Enjoy!!!!!

I've never been on one, but the ones I've looked at have had teachers and quilting while at sea. And they often have excursions that include things that would be of interest to quilters like fabric shops and textile museums.

I have a question about these 'quilting' cruises and various trips that Sew Many Places seem to organize. Do you actually do any quilting on them or are they simply an opportunity to go on a cruise with like-minded people? Just wondering?

Bring loads of money, and be sure to take some time out to get a little sun!

Going on a quilting cruise in Nov 2012 to Jamaca. First ever cruise. Any tips or info to make it more enjoyable.
