To anyone else interested in doing a triangle exchange, I was able to find one at Quakertown Quilts in Texas (quakertownquilts.com) that my friend and I are doing. The deadline for joining is November 15th, 2011, and they need to receive your completed units by February 1, 2012.
The Quakertown Quilts exchange is using batiks. Participants will use triange paper to create 2" finished units (2 1/2" with seam allowance) and each sheet will make 84 triangles. They are sending one sheet extra per background yard in case of mistakes (or if you want more triangles with backgrounds from your stash, but you can't send those in for exchange). If you buy 3 yards of background, and make as make triangles as possible, you will have 84 x 4 FQ x 3 yards = 1260 units (1008 from the exchange, and 252 from your stash). Using all of them in an almost square of 35 units x 36 units, gives you a quilt of 70" x 72" if you don't add setting triangles, borders, etc.
I am not connected at all with Quakertown Quilts, except for joining the exchange program a few days ago. Since I've seen others in the Forum comment on buying sewing machines and naming brands, I thought it would be okay to post this for other members who might have missed the Quilt Show exchange.
Happy Quilting,
Sue in Wisconsin
