I guess I'm slow on the uptake, but I just listened to something fascinating that I missed somehow earlier. In my own defense, I've been kinda busy at work and at home, though I'm sure there are others out there in the same boat who had not missed this nice little treat. If you have never heard it, you really should hear Ricky's discussion (with music) of music in his quilts posted in late 2010 on the American Quilter's Society site. Ricky provides such clear and fascinating explanation of how music and art (such as quilt art) relate, and thereby explains a number of principles of quilt design. I am not sure the link will work for non members of AQS. (It has lots of benefits to be a member. For instance, if you are a member, you also can get digital versions of The Quilt Life). No wonder so many quilters are also musicians. Have you noticed that?
