TOPIC: NOT TQS RELATED BUT--Ticked at Fons and Porter

I also received the dvd months ago and I get regular requests to return it or to pay for it. I didn't ask for it. So they can keep wasting their money sending bills. I don't even know where it is right now.

I received the dvd in the mail a few months ago. (I have a post here somewhere about it) I have yet to take the time to see it. LOL!! And neither did I or will I pay for it. I never asked for it. I had already decided earlier in the year to let my F&P mag subscription expire and this DVD mailing confirmed my decision. Last week I received my last issue. I'm so not sad about that. I'm a magazine junkie but that one took about 5 mins to read and I never went back to it. I think F&P is shooting themselves in the foot, so to speak!

You can send a letter if that makes you feel better, but I'd not take the time personally.

I received something a year or so ago from a quilting organization. It was a disk with teaching videos on it. They asked that I watch it and send it back. I watched it...it was boring. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but the instructors were just not interesting and really seemed to be reading from prompters rather than really knowing what they were doing. I am a procrastinator so didn't send it back right away and eventually got a bill for it. Wasn't paying a bill for something that I didn't order and was boring as well! Sent it back with comments....no...not nasty ones...um, constructive ones. :) Haven't got anymore from them to 'review' either. Sandi in FL

Check with your state Consumer Protection office. In our state, if we receive something through the mail which we have not ordered, we can keep it and have no legal duty to pay for it.

You may be the proud new owner of ANOTHER set of F&P videos! A perfect gift for some quilting friend!

All the more reason to write to them. I don't know what else to suggest.

Send this message to Fons & Porter, along with a copy of the invoice you received. If they have any ability to change the practice, maybe it will help. It's not illegal to sell a mailing list but you could let them know your feelings about it. You don't owe anything even if you received a DVD that you didn't request. Keep a copy of this invoice just in case you need it. I have a feeling you won't hear again from the company.

But F&P promised privacy when I signed up with them years ago.... but the last couple of years they have been breaking their promise right and left.

I got in the mail today a letter requesting payment for a FONS AND PORTER DVD... one that I had not ordered, nor gotten. I called F&P to find out what gives. Apparently they have sold the rights to their older shows to a company who is repackaging them and selling them. Well apperntly said company is mailing the DVDs to quilters then requesting either the return of the DVD or payment. I did not know what they were talking about until my neighbor showed me the DVD she got. It was a rehash of f&P older shows just in a new format. ( I have all the shows on the re-released DVD.)

I want to KNOW HOW THIS OTHER COMPANY GOT MY MAILING ADDRESS !!! IT could only come for Fons and Porter. .... SO I AM REALLY TICKED AT THEM.

I did not get the said DVD and I have no intention of paying for it. I did call the post office to find out their REGULATIONS governing UNSOLICIATED PRODUCTS in the mail. The post office said that it could be regarded as a gift since I did not order it. I have written the company stating what I think of their shoddy business practices and that I would neither pay for the DVD I did not get nor would I be returning it. I REALLY GET MAD because the company represents themselves as being Fons and Porter. I had always liked F&P before but I do not think I like them any more.

Have any of you gotten this DVD or know anything about his MAIL SCAM? COMMENTS AND OPIONIONS are welcome.
