Not only art teachers may have one to borrow, but any school teacher as well. See the librarian, now known as "media specialist." I'm not sure what "many speak of a small type" means, but the farther away from the projected image the machine is, the larger the image. Just scoot the machine back from the wall...maybe using extension cords. The most recent overhead projector we purchased at my school generated a lot of heat, of course I wanted to write on it, not project an image from a transparency.

My husband bought one on eBay for me. It only cost $1.00, but shipping was $40. Be sure to see if you can still find replacement bulbs for the model being offered before you purchase.

Great advice Nancy. I recently asked my local school if I could borrow a good as in recently purchased projector. They were delighted as most schools are now using white boards in the classrooms. I am now negociating a price to purchase a surplus one of theirs. :D

If you know an art teacher, they may be better able to advise you. They might even be able to provide you with a resource for a used overhead projector.

Can anyone recommend a overhead projector type/brand for projecting artwork on the wall to create a large quilt? There are so many on the market and I am so confused what I really need and don't want to spend more than I have to for my purposes. Many speak of small type etc. which as quilters usually isn't something we're projecting : ) thanks so much!!!!!
