LauraBC OFFLINE Posts: 99	Forgot to add you have to make sure you get it wiped off really well after with a bit of soap and water so the oily residue doesn't stay on it and wreck your fabric.

LauraBC OFFLINE Posts: 99	I use WD-40, spray a little on a cloth and wipe away the sticky gunk. Also works good on price tags that don't come off, as long as it's not something that will absorb the WD-40.

thanks for every edvice, for the moment i went to DIY store, bought sticker remover from HG (local dutch) and it works just fine, the only thing is that sticks miles, so i think i will try later (with the other rulers) the olive oil and mayo. will inform you what is the best solution.
btw, i tried before with simple inexpensive cleaning alcohol it worked ok as well but i thought there is easier way to get rid of the sticky residue...seems that now and then cleaning with the new stinky stuff that i have will do that work.

Books53 OFFLINE Posts: 158	This will sound weird but you can remove tape residue and other sticky stuff off hard surfaces like plastic,glass,counters etc. by just rubbing the spot with a bit of mayo.Then wash with soap and water.Something my mother taught me.

I have guards on the large rulers so I don't cut myself and pick up my rulers by the guard. Not all my rulers (small ones) have guards but I must alternate enough that there is no wear on the markings. Barbara

The markings on one of my rulers--it's a 6" x 24" Fiskars--is rubbing off just through normal use. It's the ruler I use the most and it's only rubbing off on the end where it probably gets handled the most.
